Kennett Area YMCA annual campaign begins

At the Kennett Area YMCA, you may have noticed an unusually high level of energy with four food truck vendors and 13 local vendors to celebrate the kick-off of the 2017 Annual Campaign. In spite of all the fun, there is a serious mission taking place. Funds raised provide financial assistance to assure everyone who wishes to benefit and participate in Y programs and services have the opportunity regardless of their ability to pay the full fee. This year’s campaign marks the start of a push to raise $308,000. Opportunities to contribute to this endeavor run all year through campaign donations, corporate sponsorships, and the annual golf tournament. The Kennett Y holds true to its mission by making the Y accessible to ALL.

The 2017 Annual Campaign is being chaired by Marc Pelletier, a Kennett Area YMCA Advisory Board Member and Fulton Bank representative. Marc commented, “The aim of our campaign is to help families in our community. Despite the enormous wealth in Chester County, we see a “Gap” or an increasing need to support community families so their children can participate in our successful programs around water safety, summer enrichment, sports, arts & crafts, and fitness. The Board and staff appreciate the generosity of our members and the community who support the Annual Campaign.” In addition to multiple service projects throughout 2016 the Y was able to financially assist over 2300 children, families and individuals providing them the opportunity to reap the benefits of the Y and its strategy for healthy living.

This all day Kick-off event featured local vendors such as LuLaRoe, Mary Kay Cosmetics, 31 Bags, Premier Jewelry and Stella and Dot who enthusiastically supported the campaign and fed our member’s passion for fashion. The Sweetest Rose Cupcake Company, Mojo Loco, Maui Wowi of Delaware –EndlessParadise and Natalie’s Fine Foods (a local favorite) kept everyone full. The day also featured Motherhood Defined, Cauldron Crafts, Pampered Chef, Shakeology, Isagenix and Wildtree. Each donated part of their sales back to the Y for the 2017 campaign.

Other highlights of the 12 week campaign include the Annual Dinner to be held April 20 at the Dupont Country Club, Y Golf Tournament on June 12 at Hartefeld National, and a lobby Cycle a Thon in May.
